Kickapoo

Soldier’s Grove, Wisconsin

I worked in Soldier’s Grove today with Nicole and Helena. There is a river there called the Kickapoo River and they say it is the oldest river in the world. Any takers on researching this? Here is the co-op in Gays Mills where we did an install next door and then ducked in for some organic snackin’.

Then on the way home we drove through a very quaint one store town where we were inspired to pose for a picture:

Love....unincorporated...

Looks like fun out there with your work sisters. Tell them I say hi Eat some cheese curds for me, okay? 🙂

After visiting Romance, you should head up to Spread Eagle. Wisconsin is so sexy.

why would they advertise being ‘unincorporated?’

  4. Sarahwageslave77@yahoo.com says:

Unincorporation has it’s benefits. No pet limit, unmetered water, cheaper sewer. Larger lots. Different porperty taxes. No sidewalks. being able to own livestock….here sheep, here sheep 🙂

Hmmm…maybe the entire state of New Hampshire is unincorporated. That would explain why they don’t fix their roads, fund their schools, or pay their librarians…can I get a do-over? I wanna come back to Seattle.

  6. MP says:

“can I get a do-over? I wanna come back to Seattle.”

Can I get a “whoop, whoop!”?

  7. Aaron says:

Then again, at least I have a job…

  8. MP says:

Don’t start with me, Mr. Smith. I don’t have time to deal with your quips right now as I have to go count all my bonus pay!

  9. Aaron says:

What was the tax rate on that again? 😛

It was pretty shocking to see all that $ taken in a lump like that. Little hunks every week just don’t jump out quite so much. And Katie, you have a potty mouth! And I hope you feel better.

mp is correct…it’s the “crookedest river”
The Kickapoo flows through the driftless area,a landscape that escaped the ravages of the last few clacial epochs. The region’s numerous limestone cliffs are the westernmost evidence of the niagra escarpment…yep that niagra….same rock, different digs….if you ever get back there, canoe the Kick….it’s a real gem with sheer sandstone cliffs, virgin hemlock groves, Indian burial mounds, wild trout, wildflowers abounding, and if yer lucky, the sweet strains of a harmonica just around the next bend…wave as you drift on by……seeya there
