Excuses, Excuses…

So should I start to defend my absence? Max came to visit. Many get togethers. New job. Commuting to Everett (ick). Lack of computer time. On my feet all day (argh). Personal and Professional meetings. Moved my sister into Scott’s place last weekend. Moved Tonja into her place last night.

But the truth of the matter is, every time I sit to write I can’t think of anything to say. Brain…so…exhausted…

I’ve even slacked a bit on the reading of blogs. A former co-worker pointed out a few things he read on the blogs and I said, “What are you talking about? Have I missed that many days of blogging?” Even HE had blogged, which I thought he hadn’t done for months.

So hopefully I’m back for a bit. This morning my sister and I woke up with the decision to REALLY finish this house. The cupboard doors and drawers apparently require a third coat of paint, the bastards. We also realized that the unpacked boxes in the living room have now become furniture for us. “Oh are those my boxes? I thought that was the coffee table.”

Besides, as soon as I can get this part of everything over with, the sooner I can start on my wine cellar. I know. It’s sound so hoity-toity, but really it’s just a dirty tiny room under the stairs in the basement that used to have the fuse box in it and old tools. I’m going to spruce up the wood and put in wooden racks for wine and start a collection. Christy!!! Aren’t you proud of me!? I’m also going to join the Eberle wine club because I drank the last bottle of Zin from them and I cried over the loss. And remember, Christy, how they gave me all Chardonnay when I had wanted some of the Viognier? So anyway, do you think I should join the wine club or just order what I want?

I know everyone has stopped reading at this point. But hey! It’s a blog entry, so stuff it.

hey man, your desire for a wine cellar is weirder than my yearning for an honest-to-god screening room in my house complete with theatre chairs 🙂 Glad to see you posting again.. 🙂

  2. johnny says:

I should have said it’s NO weirder.. bah.

  3. Steph says:

How weird is it that T and I want a wine cellar, a screening room AND a sauna in our next house? Easy to say when I’m not bringing in any money and don’t have to live up to my claims, eh?

I feel your pain on the Everett commute, Katie. Hence the looking for a new house.

Oooh, I’m staying with the hoity toity wine collector when I visit Seattle… 🙂 That will be so much fun for you!

  5. kt says:

RAR! You should come visit! As soon as the wine cellars done, plan your trip. We’ll have wine tasting party and I’ll where my dress from Iowa City! Miss you!

  6. Mark says:

I wish I could build a wine cellar. Actually, I wish I could afford wine, but who’s counting? Anyway, glad to see a new blog entry is up. BTW, what’s the temperature in your basement? Just curious. Viognier sounds good right about now. The folks who sent you chardonnay should be shot. (Or at least given a stern talking to.)

  7. Susie says:

I want to come visit your wine cellar…er you! I miss you Katie! When are you coming on a cruise with me?

  8. max says:

Hey, I have a wine cellar, it’s called Eno. It’s a restaurant about 50 feet from my apartment. Unfortunatly it’s not free. However, for FREE, I do have a 12 seat movie theatre in my apartment building! Swank. Come visit again!!! It’s your turn.

  9. Christy says:

I am so proud of you! I totally think you should join Eberle’s wine club! They send you two bottles 4 times a year and if you like what they sent you you can buy more with a 20% discount. You could always join Tobin James wine club…it is less expensive then Eberles and you get more wine….plus you would be supporting Erika! Do you know if Washington has any restrictions as far as having wine shipped to you? There are only 13 states that allow people to have wine shipped to themselves! I know it sounds silly but it is true! There are a few ways around the restrictions, so if Washington is a restricted state….let me know.

  10. Christy says:

Lucky you….I just checked the states with no restrictions and Washington is one of them! Hooray!

I’m getting a little buzzed with all this wine talk. Katie thanks so much for moving me, you are a prince or should I say a princess?:)

  12. sarah says:

All this talk about wine makes me wish I liked it. Anyway, Katie, I finally posted a new entry, so don’t feel bad, my gap was bigger than yours. Start working at a beer brewer today. It’s only a couple hrs/wk, pays in pints but it’s my dream.

  13. KT says:

Sarah, very cool. Beer brewery is better than a wine cellar sometimes. 🙂 Christy! I already AM a Tobin James Wine Club member! And we get another shipment soon! Yeah! Although I need to change my address with them.

Tonja! Congrats on the new digs. Everyone wish Tonja a new home welcome because she has herself a new condo of her very own!

  14. Christy says:

Ok, join Eberle too=) Then we will be in the same wine clubs…how cute=) I cannot wait to get the new Tobin James shipment. They are pouring some excellent stuff right now! Oh, BTW Erika has a new beau….his name is Tracy. I will send you a link with pictures.

  15. Ruth says:

Does “3-buck-Chuck” need a cellar? 🙂 Let’s have book club at your house as soon as the wine cellar is ready!!!

  16. Erin Hawk says:

I heart Eberle – it is right near my parents house.

  17. KT says:

I want to live with Erin’s parents!!!

  18. Aaron says:

I think we all now know why KT waits so long in between posts. She teases us, knowing that after a couple of weeks the anticipation will be at a fever pitch, and any new offering will immediately be deluged by a flood of comments. And it works! Look at this comment count!

    Damn you, devious wench.

  19. Phil says:

Wow, You’re popular! I think the wine cellar idea sounds ultra cool. I’m just reading the first post.. but, I’m off to look for that “what book are you?” thing.

  20. Christy says:

Are we going to have to start with the secrets again? Post something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Christy says:

Oh, I almost forgot….Home Depot has some really nice wood wine racks. You buy them in pieces so you can have as big or as small of a wine rack as you would like. They also sell wine coolers to keep your most cherished wines at optimal temps=)
