A big thanks to Kris for teaching me and helping me with my Movable Type switch. I have completed all I need to get my entries in categories and my archives working. I am at peace.
We had such a great time this weekend. Stayed up so late working on my blog (I’m more of a perfectionist than I ever knew). We also saw so much of Milwaukee and fell in love with it. Kris already talked about that.
Here are some pics from a great time. My rental car I’m standing next was fondly referred to as the Jawbreaker this trip because it is so tiny and so bright, just like a piece of candy. Made me smile every time I saw it.

Katie, I’ve known you were a perfectionist ever since the trainer video. But the site looks great.
Is it possible to be a perfectionist and a procrastinator all at the same time? A true perfectionist would do many rough drafts and work and work ahead of time in order to get it right, but I, on the other hand, wait until the last minute and then try to get it perfect with no success since I didn’t allow enough time.
Funny, I think my mom has been trying to point this out since I was 5 years old.
Oh wow, that’s me too! I think it’s very possible to be both, I procrastinate because I know if I don’t I’ll just keep redoing it endlessly until the deadline, and I want to save myself some of that pain. I feel like nothing would ever get done if I started my projects on time.
Katie, I totally dig what you’ve done with your header. How’d you do it? For a number of things I’m trying to figure out with Photoshop, I’d love to know how you did the transparent image. Very, very stylish!
I used Photodraw. I only know simple programs. 🙂 I used the designer graphics under effects and then colorized and then set some transparency and erased some of it AND THEN…big breath…gave it a soft edge. 🙂 Mostly I played until it looked the way I wanted.
And then to have the “Katie Frequently…” sitting on top of the image, or the other way around? As I type this I am beginning to see how this could be seen as relatively vulgar conversation! Anyway…I’ve been trying to do something similar in Photoshop where the background of the picture and the background of the body of the webpage visually become one. it doesn’t sound like it’d be tough, but dammit if I can’t quite get it. Maybe photodraw would be the way to go…if i still had a PC! Dang!
Well my “Katie Frequently…” is set in the banner section so it stays and isn’t part of my background. Which makes it easy to just insert a background (my pic) in the top left. Then when I want to move the text over I just add left padding to the banner. It’s fun to tweak and play with.
“It’s fun to tweak and play with”…that’s true of so many things in life.
Katie, I really like the site!( not so much no the photo of me, but the site is Shway! I whole heartily agree with the “tweaking,” I can’t recall the last time I was tweaked, Oh well. Who is the Mike character you were speaking of with reference to me? Lenny:)
My old roommate Mike is from Wisconsin and you sort of reminded me of him. Then Joey (our other roommate and Mike’s ex-boyfriend) pointed it out and I thought that was uncanny since I had thought it was more in your personality. But it must have been both. Don’t worry. It’s a good thing.
Thanks Katie. I was a tad bit concerned for a momment.
Hail to the Chief!
So things look a little different. Got moved over to Movable Type as I’ve been threatening for the last few weeks. Can you figure out who did it for me? I bet you can’t guess who. I mean, I’m not…
