I ended up separating out my blogroll into people I actually know (“Allies”) and people I know only through their sites.

It is a rather odd feeling, going to the sites of folks you’ve never met in person and leaving the same sort of comments you’d leave on the blogs of people you’ve known for years–and those people reciprocating by doing the same on your site. I haven’t made it to any ALA conventions since I started blogging, but I hear the librarian blogger parties are quite the rage.

I love to hear (or in this case read) the opinions and experiences of other people through their own words. As far as meeting people that you don’t know other than from reading their blog…I think it might make the first meeting easier as you already have subjects you could talk about and it wouldn’t be as awkward. I read a lot of the blogs that are on Katie’s list and find everyone equally as fascinating because everyone is doing something or writing about something different. It is stimulating to open your mind to other people, opinions, experiences, etc. other than your close friends in your comfortable environment.
