What did you think of “White Teeth”? I loved that book. I even got Zadie Smith to autograph my copy. I couldn’t think of anything clever to say when I got to meet her, but she noticed I had a copy of “Don Quixote” with me (I got to the reading an hour early to get a good seat, so I needed something to read,) and she wrote a list of her top five books she hasn’t read yet on the front page of my book (including “DQ”). I thought “The Autograph Man” was good too…don’t listen to the critics.

Hope everything is going well out in Ballard.

Katie, I don’t envy your commute. Some poll came out recently that said Portland’s traffic is worse, but that’s a dirty rotten lie. Seattle traffic sucks.
